Dialysis Technician - Diploma

Offered at Gulfport, MS, Houma, LA, Lafayette, LA, Metairie, LA, and Shreveport, LA campuses

Certified dialysis technicians are in demand. Are you ready to help meet that need?

The Blue Cliff College Dialysis Technician program is designed to provide the scientific knowledge and hands-on practice needed to become a dialysis professional. Students are introduced to industry professional standards along with aspects of personal and career development. Our approach provides a simulated environment which enables students to develop the skills and knowledge that can lead to an entry level career in Dialysis. Graduates of this program are eligible to take examinations required for certification.

Employment opportunities for graduates who achieve certification as a professional dialysis technician may include clinics, outpatient facilities, or home dialysis programs. A certified dialysis technician might perform procedures such as operating, cleaning and sterilization of dialysis machines, carefully monitor and record vital signs of patients as well as instruct patients about in-home treatments.

Dialysis technicians, also sometimes referred to as Hemodialysis technicians, or nephrology technicians, function in multiple roles. The dialysis technician is the primary direct care giver for patients whose kidneys no longer function properly and who are undergoing dialysis treatment. They operate the machines that remove waste and excess fluids from the blood of these patients. They work under the supervision of registered nurses primarily in clinics, out-patient facilities, or home dialysis programs. Their responsibilities may vary contingent on state laws and facility policies.

Graduates of this program are eligible to take examinations required for certification upon completion of state specific requirements. Classes are forming now!
