Insurance Coding and Billing
Medical coding professionals are responsible for a range of tasks associated with generating and managing records for all billable activities that take place in both professional and hospital health care facilities. A biller will also be able to review medical documents and capture all charges that the provider indicated on his/her progress note. They will also be able to appeal denied claims/charges, and understand the concept of what is classified as billing and coding. The responsibility of the medical biller is to translate those codes into the classification required by insurance companies so that the proper billing documents can be sent out Billing and Coding Specialist will be prepared to pass the National Certification Exam at the end of the course curriculum. The AAS Billing and Coding Specialist Program is designed to give students an additional step up taking AAS college courses that will enhance the opportunities of being employed at a higher level than diploma. As an Associates Billing and Coding Specialist you will be able to also audit the final process of the billed claim. Review of Accounts Receivable reports and clearinghouse reports generating the clean claim process for quick payment processing for both hospital and professional claims. As a college graduate with a degree, you will be able to manage responsibilities, with proven skills and experience; that could move you into a leadership role within the medical arena while exposing the candidate to a variety of specialties within the field. |
