Registered Nursing
Registered nurses (RNs) provide initial assessments in the home or inpatient setting, coordinate patient care and start discharge process on admission. RN’s educate patients and the public about various health conditions, provide advice and emotional support to patients and their family members. Registered nurses typically record patients’ medical histories and symptoms; set up plans for patients’ care or contribute to existing plans, observe patients and record the observations, consult with doctors and other healthcare professionals, operate and monitor medical equipment, help perform diagnostic tests and analyze results, give patients medicines and treatments in topical, oral, injectable and intravenous routes, teach patients and their families how to manage their illness or injuries and perform discharge planning that include what to do at home after treatment. |
