Criminal Justice: Forensic Investigation

Are you interested in a career in forensic investigation and would like to pursue a career in criminal justice? If so, then earning a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice with a concentration in Forensic Investigation (BSCJ-FI) can help get you there. A degree in criminal justice is also a great foundation for law school.

The criminal justice field is expanding in the areas of corrections, law enforcement, law and the courts, and in many types of programs that support the system. As a result, there is an increasing demand for individuals with current forensic investigation skills. Employment opportunities for forensic science technicians are expected to increase by 31 percent through the year 2016*.

Through lab and practical experiences, the Forensic Investigation degree program concentration provides students with exciting opportunities to study the investigation of crimes and criminal profiling. You can learn to collect and analyze physical evidence, such as DNA or firearms, performing tests on weapons or on substances such as fiber, glass, hair, tissue, and body fluids to determine their significance to the investigation. You can also learn to prepare reports to document findings and the laboratory techniques used, and give expert testimony as a witness on laboratory findings by identifying and classifying substances, materials, and other evidence collected at the scene of a crime.
