The objective of this degree program is to provide basic knowledge and skills in areas of therapeutic massage to prepare students to pursue entry-level employment as Massage Therapists. Coursework in the program includes instruction in a variety of massage techniques and modalities, as well as basic anatomy, physiology, pathology and kinesiology. Coursework also includes introductory massage business principles and billing. The program is also designed to instruct students in legal and ethical aspects of massage.
This program includes a Licensure Examination Review course to assist students preparing to take the Massage & Bodywork Licensing Examination (MBLEX), provided by the Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards (FSMTB). Successful completion of this exam is required in order to apply for licensure to practice massage therapy in Florida. However, the College cannot guarantee a student’s eligibility to take the exam, that they will pass the exam, or become licensed by the Florida Board of Massage Therapy. Eligibility may be affected by a variety of factors, including a criminal background. It is the student’s responsibility to inquire into and understand all eligibility requirements.
