Cosmetology Arts and Sciences

The Cosmetology Arts and Sciences program at Medix trains students in the basic skills, safety procedures, proper work habits and desirable attitudes necessary to start a new career in cosmetology or related career fields. Each student will receive instruction that relates to the performance of useful, creative and productive career oriented activities. Upon graduation, a student must take and pass the board of cosmetology exam to obtain licensure. Positions could include, but are not limited to salon stylist or owner, product representative, platform artist and more!

Upon completion of the program and graduation requirements, the determined graduate will be able to:

  • Practice effective communication skills, visual poise and proper grooming.
  • Respect the need to deliver worthy service for value received in an employer/employee relationship.
  • Perform basic skills in the areas of hairstyling, hair shaping, hair coloring, texture services, scalp and hair conditioning, skin and makeup, manicures, pedicures and nail extensions.
  • Perform the basic analytical skills to determine the best possible makeup, hairstyle and hair color for each client.
  • Apply learned theory, technical information and related matter to assure sound judgments, decisions and procedures.

To ensure continued career success, the graduate will continue to learn new and current information related to skills, trends and methods for career development in cosmetology and related fields.
