Cosmetology
The Cosmetology Program at Fortis Institute is a Quarter Credit Hour program of study consisting of 1200 hours of comprehensive training that prepares the student for entry-level employment in the dynamic field of Cosmetology. Cosmetologists work in a variety of exciting specialties, to include hair stylist, manicurist, color specialist, esthetician, salon owner or manager, theatrical hair stylist, beauty supply sales, or education. Opportunities are unlimited. As a graduate of the Fortis Institute's Cosmetology Program, you will have an understanding of laws, rules, and regulations governing the Cosmetology industry to include sanitation and safety precautions. In addition, you will be able to communicate, analyze, and perform cosmetology services in a professional manner to include, but not limited to, the following: basic wet hair styling, thermal hairstyling, hair designing, artificial hair additions, basic and advanced hair shaping, chemical texturizing, hair coloring and lightening, nail and skin care services, use theory and practical salon management skills, and ... you will be prepared for and eligible to take the Florida State Board of Cosmetology licensing examination for Cosmetology. All this combines to make you "job ready" as a well trained, professional cosmetologist, fully prepared to out-perform the competition. The Cosmetology curriculum at Fortis Institute is founded in the philosophy of the Fortis organization and the standards of the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES). The program provides educational preparation for a career in cosmetology by combining classroom and clinical experiences with supervised floor time in an actual professional salon setting. Students are provided with a quality learning experience that prepares them with a solid background in cosmetology arts and sciences with emphasis in basic manipulative skills, safety judgments, proper work habits, and desirable attitudes for success in a cosmetology career. A list of text books utilized in this training program is included within this supplement. A diploma is awarded to graduates. |
