Medical Lab Technician
A Medical Lab Technician performs tests and laboratory procedures used in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of disease. They may examine and analyze body fluids, and cells. They look for bacteria, parasites, and other microorganisms; analyze the chemical content of fluids; match blood for transfusions; and test for drug levels in the blood that show how a patient is responding to treatment. The test results will enable Physicians to detect, diagnose, and treat disease. The Medical Lab Technician may use such lab equipment as microscopes, cell counters, and automated and computerized equipment capable of performing a number of tests simultaneously. |
