Medical Records
These technicians manage medical records of patients which include laboratory tests and x-rays, physician’s orders, diagnoses and treatment plans. They assign a code to each diagnosis and procedure, which determines cost and reimbursements for hospitals, clinics, physicians and nursing homes. Health Information Technicians also use computer software to analyze and improve patient care, control costs or surveys to use in research studies or legal actions.
The student will receive specialized instruction in the preparation, maintenance, organization, completeness, and security of the patient’s medical record. |
