Radiologic Technologist
Fortis Institute ’s Radiologic Technologist program is designed to give the student the skills for an entry level position as a Radiologic Technologist (also known as an X-Ray Technician). Radiologic Technologists take x-rays and administer nonradioactive materials into patients’ bloodstreams for diagnostic purposes. After positioning the patient, they produce x-ray films (called radiographs) of parts of the human body for use in diagnosing medical problems. They prepare the patient by explaining the procedure, removing jewelry and other items that block x-rays, positioning the patient and imaging equipment into the optimal position to get the best image, and placing radiation protection devices to limit the patient’s exposure. Fortis Institute Radiologic Technologist students will also produce and analyze optical radiological images and will have limited studies in computer tomography imaging. |
