This program is an extension of our Medical Billing and Insurance Coding program which trains the students in medical billing and insurance coding.

The student will be trained in three core areas: soft skills, medical professional and medical billing and coding. The successful graduate will gain knowledge in subjects pertaining microcomputer usage, general math, grammar and customer service skills which directly address the employers need for employees with the basic soft skills. A sound knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology and other course work to support the medical professional core area of knowledge. The first two core areas prepare the student for the in depth knowledge of the rules, regulations and procedures associated to medical billing and insurance coding. Topics associated to this area of study are ICD-9/CPT coding, computerized medical patient billing using MediSoft and the manual processing of insurance forms.

This extended program will provide the student with an enhanced skill set in all three core areas above enabling the successful graduate to function in a wider variety of positions in a medical setting. The working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Power Point, and Outlook; medical transcription ICD-9/CPT, typing, accounting, human relations and an array of coursework to enhance both the written and verbal communication will position the graduate to serve an employer as a medical secretary, office bookkeeper, assistant office manager, or administrative medical assistant.
