Medical Assisting - Associate of Applied Science
The vocational objective of the Medical Assisting Program is to prepare graduates to work as a Medical Assistant in doctors' offices, hospitals and other medical facilities, performing both administrative and clinical duties under the supervision of a licensed health care practitioner. Pending approval from CAAHEP (Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs) Medical Assistant graduates are eligible to directly challenge the AAMA Certification Examination for Medical Assistants for the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential. This is the only medical assisting credential that is currently recognized by the American Association of Medical Association (AAMA). |
