Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT-1)
This 8-week program prepares you for the State Licensing Exam to become a California Certified Phlebotomist Technician 1 (CPT-1) and is approved by the Department of Health Services, Laboratory Field Services Division. On graduation you will be qualified for a satisfying career working in a Clinical Lab, Hospital Medical Lab, Blood Bank, Research Center and more. The program is taught through lectures, laboratory exercises and an externship. Phlebotomy students gain knowledge of infectious control, universal precautions and safety; anatomy and physiology of body systems with emphasis on the vascular system including blood components; proper selection and preparation of skin puncture site with emphasis on patient care; blood collection equipment and appropriate disposal of sharps and biohazard waste; specimen processing and special procedures; quality assurance and risk management. |
