Cosmetology is the art and science of beautifying hair, skin, and nails. Students will learn such tasks as shampooing, facial treatments, manicures, pedicures, scalp and hair treatments, hair removal, hair coloring, permanent waving, chemical relaxing, hair cutting, thermal styling and hair arranging. A successful professional cosmetologist is a talented stylist, a personal service expert, and a self-promoter, as well as a poised and confident salesperson. The student becomes familiar with business management and sales principles, professional ethics, and psychology.

Students in the Cosmetology program are trained in the basic skills needed to meet the competencies for the examination required by the Florida State Board of Cosmetology. Students will perform services in the clinic salon; as well as in the classroom on mannequins.

The field of cosmetology offers diverse "in demand" career opportunities and the opportunity for an exciting, satisfying, rewarding and lucrative profession. The professional Cosmetologists can express their creativity as hairdressers, skincare specialists, nail technicians, makeup artists, salon owners or all of the above. The opportunities in the beauty field are as many and varied as the individuals in the field. It’s truly an occupation in which you can create your own path.
