The Bachelor’s Criminal Justice degree program at Platt College offers a comprehensive curriculum to prepare the student for a career in the field.** Core first- and second-year courses focus on building a solid foundation in the key areas of criminal justice, including: corrections, private security, criminal law, criminal investigations, juvenile justice, and forensics. The program also includes a comprehensive study of the national criminal justice system, correctional organizations and law enforcement agencies. Third-year courses are focused on strengthening the student’s legal knowledge, including constitutional law, immigration law, laws of evidence, and advanced criminal law. Fourth-year courses explore law enforcement, corrections, and security in further detail, with a particular focus on contemporary issues: Modern Policing, Narcotics Enforcement, Issues in Public and Private Security, Security Management, and Criminal Behavior.

As part of its Criminal Justice Degree curriculum, Platt College offers students the opportunity to earn their Guard Card certificate. The College is authorized by the Bureau of Security And Investigative Services (BSIS), a division of the Department of Consumer Affairs in the state of California to offer this training, which includes 8 hour power to arrest training, as well as the additional 32 hours of training required (in various subjects) to become a licensed security guard in California.
