Associate of Science Electronic Health Information Technology
Our Associate's degree in Health Information Technology teaches students to become a vital member to an exciting healthcare team as they train to work in a diverse range of medical settings, like doctors’ offices, hospitals and clinics, learning how to make sure these healthcare environments function effectively and efficiently.
Students learn the responsibilities of a health information technician, including electronic health records and patient care management software, identification of insurance forms, medical diagnostic coding, and medical billing procedures. Also incorporated into the program is the student’s ability to track patient medical history, symptoms and exam results while comprehending commonly used medical terminology.
SBBCollege's Health Information Technology associate's degree program teaches students how to help doctors' offices, hospitals and clinics run smoothly and efficiently within an administrative position. Through training in front office skills, medical billing and coding, and integrated computer applications, they learn the skills needed to work as a health information technician.
And, as part of SBBCollege's Health Information Technology program, they can apply what they learn in the classroom to an externship in a real work environment before graduating. This experience could be just what is needed to put them ahead in the job market! Graduates of this program are also eligible to sit for the AmericanAcademy of Professional Coders’ Certified Professional Coder examination.
