Medical Assisting
Medical Assistants are multi-skilled healthcare professionals who perform routine clinical and administrative procedures for healthcare settings such as physician’s offices and outpatient clinics. The SBBCollege Associate's degree in Medical Assisting will train students to be responsible for clinical duties like measuring vital signs, administering injections, and performing venipuncture procedures. They will also become familiar with the administrative duties of running an efficient medical office such as maintaining patient medical records, processing insurance forms, and arranging for hospital admissions and laboratory services. In addition, students will gain an understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, pathology, and basic concepts of pharmacology and psychology. On the administrative side of the job, students will learn important medical office management responsibilities, such as document coding and handling of insurance forms. They will discover how to successfully combine their clinical and administrative skills as they address multiple situations that may arise in a variety of healthcare environments, including medical offices, clinics, hospitals, physicians’ offices or insurance billing offices. Graduates are qualified for entry-level positions in medical offices, clinics, hospitals or insurance billing offices and also eligible to sit for the Registered Medical Assistant exam. |
