Patient Care Technician

The UMA Patient Care Technician program trains you for entry-level employment in hospitals, nursing homes, physicians’ offices and other healthcare facilities. This focused, hands-on course can be completed in less than a year. You’ll learn to operate diagnostic equipment, assist patients with day-to-day activities, administer drugs according to physicians’ instructions, collect and analyze samples, manage medical charts and electronic medical records, and more. After completing classroom training and a real-world externship at a local healthcare provider, you’ll receive a diploma and be ready to pursue jobs at a variety of healthcare facilities. You’ll also be ready to take the State of Florida Certified Nursing Assistant exam and gain a credential that can make you more marketable to employers.
