The Bureau of Labor Statistics expects that nearly 50,000 new positions for computer and information systems managers will be created over the next eight years. As a result, many campus-based and online schools are launching new initiatives to help individuals who wish to land these jobs.

Some of these institutions are even enlisting the help of organizations that could hire information technology students after they have earned their degrees.

For instance, a New York-based school recently opened the application process for a $10,000 scholarship, which is available to bachelor's degree candidates in one of the college's information studies programs. The financial aid package was created through a collaboration with Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC), which will offer an internship position to each recipient.

Applicants are required to show proof of financial need and achieve a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Individuals who wish to work while they pursue an information technology degree may want to consider enrolling in online college courses, which could enable them to hold a full-time job while they complete their studies.
