Although the dot-com revolution has slowed in the recent years, the steady demand for computers and internet access has kept many computer science professionals employed. As a result, degree seekers who have not yet chosen a career path may want to consider enrolling a campus-based or online college degree program in this field.

Over the next eight years, nearly 300,000 computer software engineering and computer programming positions are expected to be created, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). While some companies are willing to hire programmers who have a two-year degree or certificate, many employers of these professionals and computer engineers require applicants to hold a bachelors degree.

Furthermore, large companies - such as Google, IBM and Mircosoft - are actively searching for job seekers who have higher degrees in computer science or a related field, InfoWorld reports.

As a result, individuals who are looking for a high-paying job in computer science may want to consider enrolling in college programs online, which can help them become more familiar with the devices with which they will be working in their future positions.
