Business administration degree programs could launch accounting careers

Government analysts say that the accounting field is projected to grow faster than most other professions in the coming years. As a result, individuals who are looking for a lucrative new career may want to consider enrolling in a campus-based or online college degree program in this field, as many schools are making it easier for students to enter this sector quickly.

For example, the Monfort College of Business at the University of Northern Colorado recently announced the launch of a masters degree program in accounting that will prove especially beneficial to students who have already earned a bachelors degree in the field, The Greeley Tribune reports.

Because accounting students typically need to double major in order to earn enough education hours to sit for the certified public accountant (CPA) exam after completing a bachelors program, the curriculum is designed to enable these individuals to fulfill these requirements while working at a steady pace and earning two degrees.

Similar degree programs could help prospective accountants hone their research, communication and problem-solving skills while they prepare for a new career. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, career opportunities in this field are projected to increase by 22 percent over the next eight years, so graduates of these types of programs could see high job prospects.
