In an effort to encourage military professionals to update their educational qualifications while they are serving the nation, some branches are now requiring enlistees to hold a college degree before they can gain a promotion. As a result, many campus-based and online colleges are reaching out to military students to help them gain higher education in certain fields, such as business.
For instance, a Pennsylvania-based business school was recently recognized by GI Jobs for its soldier-friendly programs.
In addition to offering online college courses that may be taken by degree seekers who are still completing their active-duty service, the school also offers transcript review services that are intended to help soldiers quickly finish their college programs online or on campus.
Furthermore, tuition costs at the college are often lower than the benefits from most military reimbursement programs, so many enrollees will not have to cover any additional costs.
Similar initiatives could enable current and former soldiers to earn a degree that will put them on the path to a high-paying career.
According to PayScale.com, a research company, professionals who hold a bachelors degree in business can earn as much as $70,000 per year.
