In recent years, the demand for clean energy has grown tremendously. As a result, many companies now require employees who have learned how electricity can be derived from wind and the sun.

Fortunately, many schools are beginning to increase their energy-related offerings in an effort to answer the need for highly skilled individuals in this field.

For instance, a Colorado-based school recently announced the launch of an associate's degree program in wind energy technology, the Broomfield Enterprise reports. This 15-month course of study is intended to prepare degree seekers for careers as wind technicians.

Similar programs will teach students to install, test and repair wind turbines. Enrollees may also be required to take classes on first aid, fire suppression, climb safety or Occupational Safety and Health Administration standards.

Individuals who earn a degree in this field may be qualified for lucrative positions. According to PayScale.com, a research company, wind turbine technicians typically earn between $17.47 and $23.45 per hour.
