Individuals who wish to pursue higher education but are not sure in which subject to major may want to consider enrolling in an associates degree program in general technology.

A New York-based college recently added this degree to its offerings to help students whose interests are still evolving, The Watertown Daily Times reports. This two-year program will give students a foundation in physics, computer drafting and programming, English, math and engineering technology.

After students complete this program, they can enter a bachelors degree program in a field that suits their prospective career path, such as alternative and renewable energy systems, industrial technology management and information technology.

Degree candidates who complete similar programs at an online college may be able to sharpen their technical skills while they earn their degree, which could help them gain a stronger understanding of the curriculum.

A similar skill set could lead graduates to high-paying careers, such as database administrators. The demand for professionals in these field is expected to grow by 23 percent over the next eight years, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
