The largest food service redistribution company in the U.S. has teamed up with an Illinois-based university to provide its employees with a path toward earning a bachelor's degree.

The Quincy Herald-Whig reports that Dot Foods employees from anywhere in the country can pursue a distance learning degree in general studies. The company has a corporate office in Illinois, a sales office in Montana, a drop site in Chicago and distribution centers in Oklahoma, California, Idaho, New York, Georgia, Maryland and Indiana.

The organization's vice president of training and quality told the news provider that the partnership will give employees the opportunity to maximize their potential while also remaining in their home community.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reports that distribution managers earn an average of $83,460 per year. Top-ranking employees in warehousing and storage departments make approximately $79,830 annually, according to the bureau.

The BLS states that the highest concentration of distributions managers in the U.S. are in Alaska, New Jersey and Nebraska. The top-paying areas in this field are the District of Columbia, Delaware, New Jersey and New York.
