Individuals whose interests span the scientific and legal sectors may want to consider enrolling in a campus-based or online college degree program in forensic science or a related field.

Students from a wide variety of educational backgrounds may be able to land jobs in forensic science, as the Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that forensic science technicians are typically required to have a bachelors degree in a natural science field and may benefit from some legal knowledge.

While forensic science could prove to be an exciting career path for individuals in a many different degree programs, students who have decided to focus specifically on this course of study may have the opportunity to get some hands-on experience before they graduate.

For example, students in a scientific criminal investigation class at a Texas-based university recently supplemented their lectures and learning materials with a trip to the Fort Worth Museum of Science's CSI: The Experience exhibit, the Brownwood News reports.

The students were able to see the tools used in the field and the practical applications of their studies first-hand, which could give them a more thorough understanding of their studies.

The offerings of online colleges may enable degree candidates to attend similar events or pursue concurrent internships that could help them ease the transition from the classroom to the professional world.
