Due to the growth of online college degree programs and accelerated curricula, business students are now able to complete their coursework on their own time. In fact, some schools are even repackaging their traditional MBA programs to enable students to enter the workforce faster.

For example, a South Carolina-based business school recently announced the launch of a one-year MBA program the will focus on global business, news channel WCSC reports.

Individuals who choose to enroll in these types of programs will examine topics such as international markets and operations management. They may also be required to complete a study abroad component or learn skills that will come in handy outside the boardroom, such as golf.

Enrolling in a truncated degree program could help less-seasoned professionals launch new careers quickly. Furthermore, working students may be able to complete these courses of study without taking a lot - if any - time off work.

According to research company PayScale.com, many graduates of MBA programs have the potential to earn upwards of $100,000 each year.
