A Texas-based college has added a new graduate program that will teach business-minded students how to speak Spanish and Mandarin.

According to the The Prospector, the International MBA (IMBA) master's degree courses will span 22 months. Some students will have an opportunity to travel abroad in order to complete a research assignment.

"Our goal is to create global opportunities for our students, so they can have as broad a world perspective as possible and be successful here in El Paso or Hong Kong," the director of the college's MBA programs told the news source.

Learning a new language opens the door for students to pursue a career as an interpreter or translator. The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) projects that that the employment opportunities in this field will grow by 22 percent over a decade. The bureau expects the increase in demand because many companies are broadening their international ties, and more non-English speaking professionals are moving to America.

The BLS reports that about 26 percent of interpreters and translators are self-employed, and many in this field work on a part-time or freelance basis.

Students interested in this field may consider taking online language-learning courses.
