Due to technological innovations and social trends, the demands of many industries are changing. As a result, many classroom-based and online college degree programs are altering their offerings to ensure graduates are prepared to enter their respective fields.

For example, the healthcare industry is expected to see a shortage of qualified professionals, such as those who hold a nursing license RN, due to the growing aging population. Accordingly, many schools are working to integrate geriatric medicine into their degree programs.

In fact, some universities are launching masters programs that are devoted solely to anti-aging or regenerative medicine. For instance, a Florida-based school recently announced it will offer a graduate-level program for individuals who have completed the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine's Fellowship in Anti-Aging, Regenerative and Functional Medicine.

Students who complete similar courses of study could see improved career prospects after graduation, as the demand for medical professionals who have been trained to work with aging patients is expected to increase in the coming years.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, job opportunities in the healthcare industry are expected to increase by 22 percent over the next eight years.
