Ohio school teams with intelligence center to offer cyber security courses

A college in Ohio recently announced that it will offer an MBA degree with a concentration in cyber security.

University officials believe that the new program is the first of its kind in the U.S., the Dayton Business Journal reports. The cyber security classes will start in November, and they will be held at the school's campus and at a technical intelligence center.

According to the news provider, the facility's president said that students will gain sophisticated knowledge that will give them a decided edge for future job opportunities. The cyber security concentration includes three classes, two of which require students to have government clearance because the courses include classified content.

DefenseTech.org, a website that provides military information, projects that cyber security jobs in the federal government will increase significantly over the next few years. The news provider states that only about 30 percent of cyber attacks are reported.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) says that many computer security professionals are expected to install security software, respond to cyber attacks and, in some cases, gather data to be used in prosecuting cyber crimes. The bureau states that responsibilities in this field have increased recently because security breaches have become more sophisticated.
