Technology has streamlined the operations of businesses in fields ranging from finance to healthcare. Web-based systems that allow these companies to easily store and access important information have enable them to better track the state of their affairs.

However, their efforts to use technology to make their businesses more efficient and up-to-date have made many of these organizations susceptible to cyber crime. As internet-based attacks become more common, security experts are suggesting that the need for online protective services is growing.

For instance, McAfee recently released a report calling for members of the security industry to increase their efforts to ward off criminals who work online.

“The tools and techniques of cyber crime continue to grow in number and sophistication at alarming rates,” said Jeff Green, senior vice president of McAfee Labs.

As a result, there is a growing demand for professionals who are up-to-speed on the latest ways that these outlaws are using the internet to prey on companies and individuals. Fortunately, many campus-based and online schools are expanding their offerings to prepare degree seekers to enter this fast-growing sector of the security industry.
