Technology is becoming an increasingly important part of many business’ operations. Many organizations are beginning to use electronic systems to store important information, which has inspired them to create new positions for individuals who can protect their valuable computer-based files.
In fact, the demand for network systems and data communications analysts - including those who specialize in electronic security - is expected in increase by 53 percent over the next eight years, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Because this rate is almost five times as fast as the average for all other occupations, many campus-based and online schools are creating new programs that can prepare students to enter this high-demand field.
For instance, an Ohio-based community college recently announced the launch of an associates degree program in systems security and information assurance, ABC affiliate channel 13 reports.
Individuals who choose to enroll in this or similar two-year programs will examine subjects such as computer concepts and applications, networking technologies, cyber crime and information security, internet security administration, criminal justice and network security.
